The Gentlemen ransomware group has listed All Souls St Gabriels School on its ransomware blog, claiming the school as a victim. No evidence of compromise or supporting data has been provided to substantiate the claim.
Notably, the group has also published its estimate of how much money the school holds in cash reserves, highlighting how threat actors may use publicly available financial information to profile potential victims.
This is the second Australian school targeted in a fortnight, following the ThreeAM ransomware group listing St James Anglican School in Western Australia.
These incidents reinforce that educational institutions remain potential targets for ransomware operators, regardless of their primary mission or the communities they serve.
